Qatar is a nation passionate about sport. Located at the heart of the Arabian Gulf, the State of Qatar is a peninsula with its only land border existing at the southern end where Qatar meets Saudi Arabia. Surrounded by water on three sides, Qatar’s passion for swimming and water-themed heritage is unsurprising. The entire country is approximately 240km from north to south, and less than 160km wide. Qatar is an independent sovereign Arab State and is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (G.C.C.), the Arab League and the United Nations.
Doha is the capital of Qatar and also the capital of sport. Sport has been at the heart of Doha’s development into the vibrant, cosmopolitan city that it is today.
